Dr. Georgios Livanos is CEO of Solarmacht EPC, a company member of the North Star Group, focusing on the development, engineering, procurement and construction of Green Energy Projects, using mainly solar technology.

Prior to that Dr. Livanos was General Manager in Wartsila Greece Energy Solutions, since 2008 when he joined the Wartsila Group and lead market development and sales projects in Greece and Cyprus. He successfully completed delivery and sale (EPC or EEQ) transactions of many thermal power plants on Greek islands – Rhodes (117 MW), Lesvos (22 MW), Samos (24 MW), Syros (16 MW) and Kalymnos (8 MW). He also participated in the business development of two major bio-fuel projects in Cyprus, which use Wartsila bio-fuel technology.

In parallel with his managerial role in North Star Group, Dr. Livanos has been nominated Associate Professor at the School of Engineering, University of West Attica. In that capacity he is teaching Energy Systems and Design of Machinery in BSc and MSc university programs. He is author of many scientific journal papers in the field of marine energy systems and techno-economics, whereas he has participated in many international research conferences as invited speaker.

Before his academic career, Mr. Livanos was Research and Development Engineer at the Laboratory of Marine Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. During this role he was leading the Research team of Marine Engine Thermodynamics and developed and tested simulation codes for lubrication, friction and wear of Diesel engines major components. He has long experience in EU funded research projects related with the development of new technologies in internal combustion engines.

Mr. Livanos began his academic career studying Naval Architecture and Mechanical Engineering, in turn he got a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the National Technical University of Athens and finally a PhD in Engineering by the same organization. In 2016 he was certified in Internal Auditing by the UK Association of Certified Public Accountants (CPA). During his studies was supported by Onassis and Eugenidis Foundation institutes, by receiving several scholarships.
